Accommodation

From boutique hotels to budget hostels, choosing the right place to stay can make or break a trip.

Where you stay shapes your whole trip: your budget, how much you see, and how comfortable you feel at the end of a long travel day. Here’s how to choose well.

How to Choose Where to Stay

  • Location over luxury. — A smaller, well-located hotel usually beats a fancy one far from everything, especially if you plan to walk a lot.
  • Mix it up. — Hostels for social trips and quick stops, hotels for comfort, vacation rentals for longer stays or groups with a kitchen.
  • Read recent reviews. — Sort reviews by most recent, and look for repeated comments about noise, cleanliness, or check-in issues.
  • Book flexible rates when possible. — A slightly higher, free-cancellation rate is often worth it for the ability to adjust plans as your trip comes together.
  • Check the neighborhood, not just the map pin. — Look at street-view photos and reviews to get a feel for safety and walkability after dark.
